Health Screening Tests | Natural Health Blog
It's been a bad month for the lucrative health-screening-test industry. Those of us who have been poked, prodded, scraped, and radiated to get our annual tests may be somewhat dismayed to discover that all the money and time spent may have been for naught -- or to be kind, very little.

As it turns out, the study is based on false logic. It is sophistry. It is bad advice.

Women's Health & Breast Cancer | Health Podcast
It is the expected norm within the medical community that women -- especially those over 40 or with a family history of breast cancer -- should get their annual mammography without fail.  But how effective of a tool is it in actually saving lives? According to a recent study by an international team of researchers at various European institutions, the answer is that it's not especially effective.  Breast cancer screening was not shown to have a major impact on the reduction of breast cancer mortality in the recent past.  While the mortality rates from breast cancer have certainly gone down in most developed countries in the last two decades, it would seem that the lower numbers might not be attributable to mammography.

That amount was associated with a 30 percent lower risk of fatal prostate cancer compared to those who don't drink coffee at all.

A new study has proven unequivocally that the radiation emitted from cell phone antennas alters our brain activity. While these effects may not necessarily be harmful, it's impossible to argue any longer that cell phone usage has no physical impact on brain tissue. The research, which took place through the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, focused on the brain's increased metabolism of glucose while using a cell phone. The 47 study volunteers underwent PET scans while holding cells phones to their heads that were either off or on but muted. The scientists discovered that more than 50 minutes of exposure to a cell phone that is on boosts activity in the area of the brain nearest the antenna by approximately seven percent.
