Heavy metals are everywhere, from the food we eat to the air we breathe. You drink lead due to lead-containing plumbing or foods that are grown in lead-rich soil. You eat mercury in fish and absorb mercury vapor from dental amalgam fillings. You breathe mercury pollution from coal fired power plant emissions and hospital/municipal incinerators. Unhealthy levels of arsenic are found in our drinking water, pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides as well as preserved wood products, and animal feed. Generally, heavy metals are found in diesel exhaust, jewelry, ceramic pigments, hydrogenated oils, cigarettes, dyes, bleaching agents, preservatives, lotions, soaps, toys from China, batteries, paints, dentures…the list is endless.
The problem with heavy metals is that they accumulate in the body causing numerous health problems that can seriously impact literally every major organ in the body. Studies show that heavy metals in the body may be implicated in everything from Alzheimer’s to cardiovascular disease, from behavioral problems to kidney dysfunction, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and even paralysis.
The second problem with heavy metals is that they are not that easy to get rid of. There are many detox protocols out there that claim they get rid of heavy metals, but most detoxes just break the bonds of the heavy metals in your body. If there is nothing there to absorb the heavy metals that are freely circulating in your bloodstream, they will simply get reabsorbed in fat cells and organs, wreaking havoc on your health. Instead of thinking you got rid of the heavy metals, you only solved part of the equation, and could continue to suffer from these known side-effects:
- Brain fog or trouble remembering certain words or recalling names
- Impaired blood sugar regulation
- Joint pain, stiffness and loss of flexibility
- Migraines and headaches
- Abdominal pain and digestive distress
- Fatigue, loss of energy and stamina
- Sinus congestion, itchy eyes and throat
- Vomiting and nausea…
- And more…
