Liver Detox Day 4
Hello everyone!
Day four...the end is in sight. One more day after today!
From the emails we receive every year, I know many of you have had little "bumps in the road" while doing this detox -- and managed to come through them. Also, we've heard from many of you that during the "up" times of the detox, you're feeling "spectacular." We also understand that some of you may hit a bump that was a little too big and it stopped you, causing you to drop out. Don't worry about it. You can always try it again later. Just do a little more prep work first to make life easier.
Just keep one thought in mind: the more difficult your experience doing the detox, the more you need to do it. That means you should keep trying the liver detoxes until they become rather easy. At that point you know your liver is pretty much cleaned out, and the detoxes are then mere holidays from food.
Question: Dehydration. Many of you have written in with regards to feeling dehydrated. There are a couple of things that promote the sense of dehydration. First, the liver tea and tincture contain diuretic herbs that encourage you to urinate. This helps flush toxins from the body. They also contain herbs that help your kidneys too. In addition, the Psyllium when taken at night, swells up and provides the bulk in your stools by absorbing a considerable amount of water. Between the herbs and the Psyllium, your mouth may feel quite dry at times. Don't worry. Just keep drinking lots of fluids.
For those of you who have hung in there, there's only one more morning drink to go -- and only one more day (or so) of the tinctures. You want to keep going until they are done. (Depending on how good you are at sucking the tincture into the dropper, you should finish tomorrow or the next day.) And for most of you, the biggest joy of all is that you can start eating tomorrow. Just wait 4-5 hours after your morning drink. Start with a healthy raw salad filled with all kinds of organic goodies.
As I mentioned in yesterday's email, eat small amounts of raw fruits and vegetables for the 5th day and the first two days following the cleanse. One, it will keep your body alkaline as long as possible, and two, you will actually continue to detoxify and cleanse during this period. Toxins will tend to be swept out of the body by the action of the soft fibers of the fruits and vegetables. And finally, it will allow your digestive system a chance to gently wake up. (PS: Eat slowly and chew your food well.) Don't overeat. Start small and build to normal portions over the next three days. And remember to wait at least 3-5 hours after your morning drink on Sunday before eating.
Here are some guidelines for the next three days:
- Any salad combination, no cheese. Homemade olive oil based dressings work best. Avoid dressings with dairy. As much as possible avoid commercial dressings made with refined vegetable oils.
- Use lettuce or spinach and sprouts of all kinds
- Add avocados, zucchini, onion, artichoke hearts, palm hearts, shredded carrots or beets, mandarin oranges, raisins, or dried cranberries if you like, Etc.
- Fresh fruit salad works too
Once again, congratulations to those of you who have made it this far! It really is a great achievement.
Best wishes,
