Thank you for the good information on hazards involved in showering when clorine is in so much of our water supply, in addition to flouride. none of which are user friendly as hype overload has deemed them.

I cannot quite believe this article, ok if there is any bacteria lurking around the shower head, water spurting out should get rid of most of the bacteria. I think this is going to bring a scare to quite a lot of people, scientists tend to do that nowadays, scaring people out of their wits for no good reason.

Really? No good reason?? My 76 year-old mother has this mycobacterium avium infection in her lungs. It will take 6 months to 2 years of treatment using 3 different drugs (2 of which are used to treat TB)to (hopefully) get rid of it. All of the drugs are liver toxic and one of the drugs can actually damage her eyesight so she has to be tested throughout the course of her treatment! One of the characteristics of this bacterial infection is weight loss. She is down to 108 lbs and looks like a war refuge! It took the doctors a long time to even test her for this bacteria because they were not concerned that it was anything serious even though she had been complaining of it for almost 18 months! I am very concerned what will happen to her if she contracts another lower respiratory infection (i.e. bronchitis or pneumonia)on top of the one she already has because she is very frail right now. If that's not a good enough reason to scare people I don't WHAT is! I don't know what kind of doctor you are, but you obviously have not done your homework..this is NOT a minor infection and the bacteria is VERY hard to irradicate once it becomes established. BTW, her infectious disease doctor told us the bacteria lives in the soil and transfers to the showerheads where you breathe them in when they areate in the shower spray. He recommended cleaning the shower heads every two months. So...BELIEVE IT!

I listened to the pod cast on how bacteria laden our showerheads are - especially if using chlorinated municipal water. I understand that soaking a shower head in Chlorine bleach isn't effective - what about peroxide or just strong salt solution? Maybe you could immerse it in boiling water (without melting any of the plastic parts)
