Lyme Disease, Bacteria Borrelia Burgdorferi

tick.JPG

Lyme Disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. This bacteria is particularly hard to kill, and the use of antibiotics, in most cases, only temporarily suppresses it -- allowing it to resurface with even greater intensity down the road. When dealing with Lyme, the key is twofold:

  • Attack the bacteria directly.
  • Optimize your immune system so that it can hold the bacteria in check.

The Baseline of Health® Program is designed to do both of these things and is highly recommended when dealing with Lyme, but that said, a general program that can be helpful would include:

For 30 Days

  • Olive leaf extract, but make sure you use one that's 20% oleuropein kills bacteria.
  • Grapefruit seed extract kills bacteria.
  • Colloidal silver kills bacteria. Note: I am not normally a fan of colloidal silver, he has said that it may help with Lyme disease. If you can use the colloidal silver for 30-60 days to kill the bacteria. Then you can rebuild your intestinal flora with a good probiotic.
  • Proteolytic enzymes at detox level doses can actually "digest" the bacteria in the blood.
  • Immune system boosters such as Echinacea and Acemannan.

After 30 Days

  • Stop the olive leaf, grapefruit seed extract, and colloidal silver to rebuild your intestinal flora.
  • Probiotics will be needed to rebuild the intestinal bacteria.
  • The use of a garlic based formula will help continue to attack the bactera, but without harming the intestinal flora.
  • Continue with the immune builders.
  • Continue with proteolytics at detox levels for 90 days, then take down to maintenace levels.

As a side note, some people have reported great success using my natural antipathogen formula (which contains a number of the antipathogens listed above) with Lyme disease. Others no. Since no one has reported exactly how they used the formula, it's tough to evaluate. The protocol for using this formula aggressively involves using a bottle a day for the first 2 days and then 10 droppers a day for the next 2 weeks. I don't know how many of the people who said that the formula did not help with their Lyme disease actually used that protocol, so the verdict is still out.

On another note, some success has been claimed for intravenous vitamin C treatements with Lyme disease. You might want to explore that on the net.

Hi Jon, I read more at your pages and I'm impressed about all the information you give. Although your writings are pointing to products that can solve the health problems, still these are valid. You write: ""...information on cleansing and detoxification, herbal health, supplements."" All well done. There is only one aspect open: Telling costumers clearly that whatever they do to be healed, that this for sure can help, but that they need to take self responsibility for their whole being and that includes also their mind and emotions not just their body. Cleansing is necessary, but also clearing up their personal unconscious background, because there they might find the root cause for their disease and if they just heal this with manipulation and medication, then an other disease will manifest because the imbalance of their existence continues. People must understand that the healing process is also a growing process and can't separated one from the other. As long as people feel as victims and see disease as something bad that happens to them, finding the cause on the outside and in unlucky circumstances, then this negative attitude is part of their disease. But when they can see that disease is a challenge and dealing with it has to do with their growing, then it can be creative. For most it might not be possible to get out of their dependency to take self responsibility, still expecting to be healed by professionals and being told what to do. But I am observing that more and more people becoming more critical about the established health system and searching for different ways to get out of their suffering. I believe that it is important to give them some hints, at least that's what I'm doing and I have the impression that you will feel good by using your platform for the same. I healed myself from Fibromyalgia and an Inguinal Hernia and I'm convinced that this was only possible because I could go beyond my 'personality' and I feel the responsibility to share my view with people who might be open for it, - like you. Hi Jon, I also would be interested to have your answer to the question posted By: Gila B. Varis | October 27, 2008 10:05 AM ""Have you heard of taking MMS (Miracle Mineral Supplement) to get rid of Lyme's Disease?"" I couldn't find any information at your Web site about MMS? Is it not that good as seller describe it? I have the impression the inventor is serious but for the seller it might just be a money making selling salty water under a attractive name. Even though it might work and kill all those bacterias etc. If that's the case then it would be the best to give an advice how to do the 'miracle solution' oneself, just using salt, distilled water and lemon juice mixing it in the right way. Millions of sick people could heal themselves, but of course first they need to get out of the dependencies of the authoritarian health system and the belief that they need expensive medication. But who is capable to step out of dependencies to take self responsibility? Obviously very few. This would be a real step in ones healing as it is a step in ones 'growing'. This should be part of the instruction of any remedy people take to be cured! By the way: The information you give at your side is great! BeiYin http://falconblanco.com
What is your comments on taking olive leaf as a regular supplement for immune boosting? Is there any concerns that it kills good bacteria? What are other options to boost immunity for a child with mild allergy problem? Regards Catherine
How did you heal yourself of a inguinal hernia. A friend has an inguinal hernia and of course doctors want to operate and medicate (what a surprize). I know that there is ALWAYS a natural cure for every illness or condition, and am looking to help her find one before she submits to the knife. I am a big fan of Jon Barron, and have read both his 2000 version and 2008 version of Lessons from the Miracle Doctors and everyone in my family received the most recent for Christmas. We buy lots of Baseline Nutritional products because the quality is exceptional. Bless him!! Diane
I have read that olive leaf can deactivate antibiotics. Is this true?
Have you heard of taking MMS (Miracle Mineral Supplement) to get rid of Lyme's Disease?
Do you have any other information about Lyme Disease?? I'm very interested in some information. Thank You, Jack Porter

Emily, this is actually a great question.

Yes, many sites give warning that olive leaf extract may deactivate antibiotics. However, there is little scientific research to support the warning. The reason for the warning is that many antibiotics are created from mold and fungi. (Think penicillin and moldy bread.) Therefore, taking olive leaf extract might kill the mold and neutralize the antibiotic. But antibiotics don’t actually contain the original mold or fungus. Antibiotics are chemical substances that can inhibit the growth of, and even destroy, harmful microorganisms. They are derived from special microorganisms or other living systems, and are produced on an industrial scale using a fermentation process. During fermentation, the organisms produce the antibiotic material, which can then be isolated for use as a drug.

Bottom line is that there is little likelihood that olive leaf extract will deactivate an antibiotic since it is an isolated biochemical. The reason you see so many warnings on the net may be as simple as people copying the warning from site to site until it acquires authenticity from endless repetition.

On the other hand, if you are taking an antibiotic (or any medication for that matter), you should not be using any alternative health formula without your doctor’s knowledge and approval. Your doctor’s understanding of how the drug they are giving you interacts with your body is based, for the most part, on using that drug in isolation or familiar combinations. Adding unfamilar elements to the mix can only serve to confuse your doctor -- and put you at risk.

If you wish, you can actually check for known interactions between olive leaf and any particular antibiotic you might be taking at Drug Digest.

There is no need to wait. There is no conflict between the suggestions in this blog and having previously taken antibiotics. One thing you will aboslutely want to do, however, is replenish the beneficial bacteria when you are done. And if you decide not to proceed with this protocol, then you will want to take a good probioitc supplement immendiately to prevent the bad bacteria from popluating your gut now that the antibiotics have cleaned out all the bacteria in your intestinal tract -- good and bad..
Your doctor can order a blood test to identify if you have lyme disease. A healthy adult has no antibodies to the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium. If you test positive, you have been exposed to the bacterium and most likely have Lyme Disease. If you test negative, you could still have the disease, but your antibody level is too low to detect. In that case, your doctor will treat you according to your history and symptoms. Note: Antibodies to the bacteria can stay in the blood for a long time; therefore if you have ever been infected with Borrelia burgdorferi previously, your blood test might still be positive, even though you may no longer have Lyme disease. PS: Antibiotics can interfere with the test results, so if you are being treated with antibiotics before being tested for Lyme disease, make sure your doctor knows.
Olive leaf is not really an immune booster. It is a pathogen destroyer. It kills pathogens that are present at the time you take it. As such, it makes sense to use it on a more selective basis. For a list of immune builders and pathogen destroyers, check out Your Immune System and the Flu.
I was diagnosed wit MS about 12 years ago through a spinal tap and blood tests. Recently I have had 2 different people tell me of individuals they know who had many of the same symptoms I have, but they have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. How are you tested for Lyme disease? I'm trying to decide if this is something I should pursue to determine if I have been misdiagnosed.
I was diagnosed with lyme meningitis in July 2007, I have been on and off antibiotics ever since and actually tomorrow I am having my second PICC line removed tomorrow and will be stopping the Rocephin antibiotic. My question is, how long should I be off of an antibiotic before I try this new regimen if I elect to? I am 42 and in pretty decent health except for this. Thanks
i had a lyme test this summer. which came back positive although the doctors never saw the five bulleyes on my legs but they did see the rash that went from breast to breast down to my belly button. i had a major fever of 104. i slept for two days. i never got up. went to bed wed 630p got up friday at 2pm. i am hoping that the high body temperature fried the bacteria. the doctor's office called me with the test results they were skeptical because they said the test is usually false positive but they gave me the antiboditics anyways. when i returned home i went to my own doctor and he gave me another 10 days. when i first took the pill i noticed an amazing difference on the 2nd pill, by the second day all rashes disappeared. i really don't understand any of this. i thought the pills would take care of the bacteria. now that i think about it, i don't think my blood test showed a high wbc count which i find really strange due to what i went thru a few days before the tests. the county called me because of the protocal of this disease. she said she would not consider this a lyme disease case because no doctor ever saw the 'bullseyes' but suggested i take a western block test which i did and tested positive for lyme. what really scares me for people who may have been diagnosed with say MS may have been biten by a small tick and never saw it. i had no idea what it looked like until i talked to an uncle who described it to me then my mind went back to a time where i was sitting on a concrete patio and saying to my father i have a red spider on my arm. it was soooo tiny. that was it. that was the tick. just like a red dot from a pen. that is all the bigger it was. i am just grateful for that moment i guess otherwise i would be going thru life thinking where did i get it because i am not in the woods i am sitting on a beautiful flowered area patio. after reading all of the comments i pray that i will not have any complications from this. i probably should mention that the summer is in egg stage whereas this time of year they are in the adult stage so the look of a tick may be differ than what i saw in july.
I have worked with quite many people dealing with lyme disease. I recommend you find someone doing kinesiology testing that could help you fine tune dosage and frequency and adjust it over time. In my experience depending on the severity and length of time someone had lyme, these tinctures should be taken for at least 6 months but often 1 year or longer as lyme goes dormant and hides in the body and then comes out of hiding often under a different shape and inactivity to reinvade the system. Lyme is a shape shifter making it harder for the immune system to keep track of it. It is also recommended to support with other herbal remedies or homeopathic remedies organs and body systems that are the most affected by lyme. Lyme and its many co-infections can be tough to beat but it is possible with these herbs. As Jon mentioned, antibiotics, unless taken immediately after being beaten and getting all the classic symptoms of lyme (red bull's eye, cold/flu feelings, achyness, ...), are not very effective. They will only temporarily relieve symptoms but not cure lyme. I have seen people who had been taking heavy amount of antibiotics for long periods of time 6 month to a year, sometimes even IV antibiotics to only get short term relief and see lyme symptoms come back after getting of the antibiotics. Lyme is a very smart bug and will mutate and hide from the antibiotics. Another good resource is Dr. Zang 's book ""Lyme disease & chinese medicine"" that uses various herbal preparations including an extract from garlic to kill lyme. He also doesn't recommend using antibiotics for the same reasons mentioned above. Hope this helps.
I believe you are on to something. After concventional medicine I tried uncoventional and a few years later I'm back racing again. I'm an athlete who has fully recovered from Chronic Lyme- my story is here for those who are interested: http://www.beatlymedisease.com I really do believe Lyme can be ""cured"" but there are so many things people AREN'T doing... There is HOPE. Perry

Garlic IS a natural antibiotic and therefore CAN potentially harm intestinal flora no less that Olive Leaf Extract for example.

Though I wanted to make that clarification - I swear by Garlic. I believe it has a place in treating Lyme. (It kicks colds and flu in 1-2 days if taken raw)
