pediatric allergies

A new survey by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology reveals that childhood allergies are nothing to sneeze at.  The survey, the largest of its kind to date, culls data from interviews with parents of 1000 children -- 500 with allergies and 500 without.  The results confirm that pediatric allergies can significantly impair a child's daily functioning, academic achievement, and ability to sleep.

There's some bad news for those hoping that the anti-viral drug Tamiflu will save them should they get sick this winter. It seems that a significant percentage of seasonal flu cases have become Tamiflu-resistant, according to a study completed by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).  The ECDC tested 148 samples of the most common seasonal flu, Influenza A H1N1, and found that 13 percent of the samples did not respond to the anti-viral agent. These findings raised concerns, since Tamiflu currently is the frontrunner antiviral drug worldwide, and many nations have been stockpiling it in case of a bird-flu pandemic. Tamiflu is not a vaccine and doesn't prevent the flu, but rather, works to lessen symptoms and to shorten the duration of the illness.

purse

You go to the bathroom at the bookstore, wash your hands, then lift your purse off the shelf where you had it resting and continue into the store where you purchase a book. Do you think you're safe from germs because you washed your hands with soap? Think again, because according to studies, the toilet seat has fewer bacteria than the bottom of the purse you just handled, and it's cleaner than the money you receive as change from the store clerk.

I’m not really sure why people are so enamored of peer reviewed studies. Depending on your methodology, you can get them to prove anything. We’ve had peer reviewed studies that prove hormone replacement therapy is helpful, that it’s harmful, that it works, that it doesn’t work, and that in only works for five years around menopause. If you can get a peer reviewed study to come out with continually contradicting results, how much value can it have?

candida.JPG

Question: I have candida. What do you recommend?

Answer: This is the third question today on candida. It's obviously time to post an answer on the blog.

First of all, it's probably worth briefly discussing what a candida infection is. Candida is a yeastlike fungus commonly found in the normal flora of the mouth, skin, intestinal tract, and vagina, which can become clinically infectious in people with compromised immune systems.

Question: I just finished reading your interview with Mike Adams, and I was very impressed with your knowledge, especially about the bird flu issue. It seems Super ViraGon, because it is such a good virus killer, will be a good product to have handy when the bird flu hits. I’m wondering if the Super ViraGon can also be used for someone who has the herpes virus. How would it interact with other supplements such as: Vitamin E, Camu Camu (Vitamin C), whole food multi-vitamin, and coral calcium?

urinary_tract.JPG

Urinary tract infections are often difficult to get rid of and can easily spread to the kidneys. You need to knock the infection out, acidify the urine, and use D-Mannose to carry any E coli out of the urinary tract. Here is a protocol that has proven effective for many people.

  • D-Mannose: 1 teaspoon 4 times a day for 3 days.
  • Cranberry: (to acidfy the urine) Take 2 capsules, twice a day for one week.
  • Juniper Berry: (to flush the kidneys) Take two capsules three times daily at mealtimes for one week. Increase fluid intake throughout the day.
  • The herb forskolin to help flush bacteria out of the bladder.
  • Also recommended are an antipathogenic formula that contain things like garlic, oil of oregano, olive leaf extract, and grapefruit seed extract to directly take on the infection...and a good probiotic formula to provide long term protection. (Probiotics need to be replenished whenever you have had a round of antibiotics, which leaves you vulnerable to a whole range of opportunistic infections.)

ground_beef.JPG

Was it just last newsletter that I mentioned that despite everyone's obsession with E. Coli and spinach, E. Coli in hamburger was a far bigger problem -- and one that got far less publicity? Why yes it was.

Anyway, as if on cue, there was an announcement this morning of a recall of 5,200 lbs of ground beef because of E. Coli contamination.
