Annual Wordwide Group Detox Event: Health Blog

What began as a private health regimen in 2001 for Kristen and myself has mushroomed into a global detoxification health movement that includes hundreds of participants from over 30 countries. From Canada, to Sweden, Scotland, France, Hungary, Australia, Serbia, Lebanon, China, Africa, India, and Thailand, to right here in the United States, where it all began, people are increasingly concerned about ridding their bodies of toxic pollutants that prevent them from experiencing optimal health.
The Global Detox event grew out of the annual cleansing that Kristen and I have done for over 20 years as part of our own personal health routine – and has doubled in size every year. In 2005-2006, hundreds of participants worldwide participated in the detox event while detoxing from their own homes. Thanks to the Baseline of Health Foundation, I’ve been able to set up a system whereby participants receive daily directions, join in live conference calls, and have personal questions answered for free. The Global Detox Event serves as an “entry level opportunity” to anyone - anywhere - who is serious about taking control of their health by participating in a safe, total detoxification process that cleanses them out from top to bottom – while at the same time being hand held through the process.
The trend towards detoxing could not be more timely. As the “Toxic Nation: A Report on Pollution in Canadians” showed last year, even children, as young as 10, were found to have excessive chemicals in their bodies (i.e. stain repellents, flame retardants, heavy metals, organophosphates, insecticide metabolites and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) even when raised by health conscious parents. Even when raised on organic diets and living hundreds of miles form the sources of those toxins. We live in an age where our deteriorating natural environment is polluting our bodies with cigarette smoke, pesticides, food additives, smog, chemical toxins, heavy metals, and more that threaten our intestines, colon, kidneys, liver and gallbladders. As these toxins build up to levels beyond our bodies’ ability to eliminate them, they can cause a myriad of health problems. You only have two choices: a periodic detoxification program—supporting the body’s natural elimination process and preventing the day-to-day buildup of toxicity--or a lifetime on prescription drugs to manage the symptoms of deteriorating health.
Ironically, Americans alone spend billions of dollars on facial cleansers, microdermabrasian, cosmetic surgery, liposuction, hair implants and other invasive techniques to beautify the outward appearance of their bodies, while the real priority should be getting healthy from the inside out. Statistics prove the need for a call to action. In 1985, between 50-70 million Americans were affected by digestive disorders. Today it’s close to 100 million. Colorectal cancer, one of the most severe gastro-enterological diseases, is the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Liver cancer is also growing at explosive rates. And kidney disease is now approaching epidemic levels.
Registration for the Global Detox Program started October 1st, and there is no fee to participate. The time frame for the entire Detox Program is as follows:
- Intestinal Cleansing & Heavy Metal Detoxification: October - November 2007
- Kidney Cleanse & Liver/Gallbladder Prep: November - December 2007
- Liver/Gallbladder Flush & Blood Cleanse: January 2-6, 2008

Congratulations on this extremely intelligent project. I have been working on detox since the ealry 70's when two chiropractors first introduced me to life after being an RN. It has been very interesting learning and growing in the alternative field since then and having been very involved in the alternative teaching and hands on therapies in the 80's.
Unfortunately, whereas many of us thought we would really be in good shape by now 30 yrs later, the downslide of society re: toxic planet, has presented a challenge. Nevertheless, I am thankful for the many who perservere on getting the word out, and I just wanted to acknowledge your wonderful global effort.
I will look forward to participating, even as I am now on day 9 of a kidney/liver cleanse that my nutripath introduced to me in the 80's. Also had mercury removed and once in a while do live cell analysis. Dedicated to doing my part in educating the public.
Thanks,

Its a great post! Thanks for the articles.
Hi Jon,
While I believe this is an excellent way for us to 'do this together' and have support, I think people should be aware that it is not in their best interest to detox heavy metals, if they still have mercury amalgams in their mouths.
I will be having all of my amalgams removed (11 in total) over the course of the next several months, and I cannot tolerate any chelators (food - i.e. cilantro or supplements i.e - ala) without becoming terribly sick. From what I understand, based on own research, as long as the mercury remains in my system - it will just keep circulating and these chelators will only continue to stir it around in my body and I will actually become more ill than I already am. I am just wondering if you have taken this into consideration and what your take is on this.
Thanks
how do you do a detox and work everyday
Hello everybody, i want read the jon barron newsletter in spaƱish is possible? i know to much people who dont talk english, thanks..
Suzie:
I have to disagree with your assessment of detox timing quite strongly. When it come to mercury, you have two places where it resides. In your tissues, and in your fillings. Only the mercury in your tissues is harmful. The mercury in your fillings is only potentially harmful. Removing the mercury from your tissues before removing your amalgam fillings will not make you sicker. It will make you healthier. If you don't remove your fillings first, it just means you will load up your tissues again more quickly than if they had been remved and will need to chelate more often.
My goodness, though, if you think about it, if people could only detox when they were totally clean and lived in a totally clean environment - then who could ever detox?
Joan:
Many, many people detox while working. Doing the 30 day intestinal detox, the heavy metal detox over six weeks, and even the kidney detox are not that disruptive for most people.
Yes, the liver detox is more of an issue, but we start that on a Wednesday, which means that the three easiest days are during the work week. The days where you do the greatest purging (and incidentally tend to reek of garlic the most) are on Saturay and Sunday when you are at home. That's why we time the group detox that way. If your work schedule is not M-F, you can adjust the days of the detox accordingly.

Ah! I would love to be able to produce a version of the website in Spanish. At the moment, however, that is beyond our resources. In addition to researching and publishing the material you see, the staff at the Foundation fields almost 10,000 emails a month. As a side note, there are people all over the world translating the newsletters on there own as they are published into dozens of languages--from Farsi to Serbian--to share with others in their countries.
I am preparing to start the detox system on my niece, Monica Martinez, who is in seconday progressive MS. After monitoring her detox, I will return home and start myself and daughter on our detox adventure. I've been extremely optimistic and excited about the possibility of my niece walking again and reversing those debilitating symptom of MS or whatever it is that has attacked her health and her body's ability to fight back. I will keep in touch with our progress. Thanks,
