Food Allergies, Allergen Build Up: Health Blog
It is very common for people to automatically assume that a food allergy is directly triggered by food. However, this is not always the case. As discussed in my newsletter on allergies, they are the result of a cumulative build up of allergens in the body. To explain, there are over 100,000 new chemical additives and xenoestrogens that have been added to the environment in the last 50 years alone that could have made their way into your food and water supply--all taxing the body and contributing to any allergy problems. Also, any number of vitamin and mineral deficiencies can contribute to the problem.
If you are looking for alternative solutions, you should research digestive enzymes since they help break down the complex proteins in most of the foods that do not digest properly and create circulating immune complexes that contribute to allergies. If some can not digest capsules, you can always take the enzymes out of the capsules and mix them with the food (such as for the elderly or children). The taste is mild. For adults, look at high-end proteolytic enzyme formulas that will further digest proteins in the blood. Others may also want to supplement with some quercetin, since that helps tone down allergic responses. We have also heard accounts of liquid trace mineral complex making a difference.
And finally, for adults, you may consider a formal liver detox. For children with food allergies, ask your pediatrician about slowly introducing diluted fresh beet juice with a little fresh lemon juice into your child's diet. Beets are very cleansing to the liver so introduce the beet juice very slowly. You don't want your child to have a detox reaction as the liver purges.
