Caffeine may be good for short-term athletic surges. If one is in a race and needs a lift, then it is great. Then, they need to nurture their endocrine system by taking some kind of adaptogen. [maca]
I am usually caffeine free but decided to try this theory for a month. The fatigue after a month was insurmountable. Caffeine wrecks your energy system if you are really training. It is just too much stress for the long-term. If you plan on only exercising for 30 days, then go for it. However, there are other ways to get energy for exercise.
Quercetin with Vitamin C, better diet, and even raw cacao are alternatives.
Raw chocolate is still a stimulant but it does not affect your smooth muscle tissues and allows for better performance.

I just recently had a client in my holistic health practice that was severly deficient of Thiamin because of over-use of caffeine and therefore was experiencing numbness in the hands and the feet.
Just something to be aware of.
